Agency changes name of building to replace destroyed towers

How quickly we forget. Less than 8 years and it seems some are ready to put the attack behind them. Wasn’t this all settled before? Although the Port Authority says it has nothing to do with the issue at hand, the first commercial tennant will be a Chinese real estate giant, Vantone, who is closely associated to the freedom loving Chinese Communist government.

NEW YORK – The Freedom Tower is out. One World Trade Center is in.

The agency that owns the site says that the signature 1,776-foot skyscraper replacing the towers destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, will be known as One World Trade Center.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Chairman Anthony Coscia says the agency refers to the building as One World Trade Center. He says it’s the building’s legal name and “the one that’s easiest for people to identify with.”

Sorry Tony, there are many of us that would disagree with you. And somehow, I don’t think we have heard the last of this story.

In April 2003, then Governor George Pataki said, “The Freedom Tower is not simply another piece of real estate and not just a name for marketing purposes . . . and, in my view, those addresses (1 and 2 World Trade Center) should never be used again.”

I have to agree with the former governor.
