Jimmy Carter – Opps, I did it again

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

“I think an overwhelming portion of the
intensely demonstrated animosity toward
President Barack Obama is based on the fact
that he is a black man, that he’s African-American,” Carter told NBC News. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/15/carter.obama/index.html

Overwhelming portion?  Carter also made remarks at an event at his presidential center in Atlanta, Georgia, pointing to some protesters who have compared Obama to a Nazi. Did I say that?Hmmm, I think those same protesters call Bush a Nazi also. There will always be some who are real racists (not the ones that for every disagreement with a person of a different race are called racists). And maybe Jimmy Carter knows some, but an overwhelming portion? And comparing Obama to a Nazi? Racist but not based upon the fact he is a “black man.”

The overwhelming intensity animosity of the demonstrations I saw were directed towards the government. It doesn’t matter who is President or who is in Congress the American people are fed up with greed, pork, spending, waste, excess et al. We are fed up with having a government by the corporations (lobbyists) and for the corporations (lobbyists). We are fed up with the majority being relegated to the “they really don’t know the facts” club. We are fed up with politicians taking care of us.We want our country and government back.

Jimmy, you have eaten too many peanuts.

More oil in the US than in the entire Middle East

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

We are sitting on enough oil to power A pumpjack - we need more of them in the US!the US through the year 2041 and yet we continue to be held hostage by OPEC and oil companies that would rather sell more expensive crude. Put that together with our political cowtowing to environmentalists and you have expensive gasoline guaranteed.

Perhaps I should say radical environmentalists or fanatic environmentalists. I like to think we are all (for the most part) environmentalists. We pick up after our dog, don’t pour paint down the drain, by green products and sort our trash. We all want the earth and our neighborhood to be pretty and healthy.

But there are those who would just as soon see humankind shuffle off this coil so animals and plants would be happy. They would just as soon see us return to the caves of our forefathers and eat a diet that the by-product of which, would be little gold donuts.

They don’t care it we pay $4 a gallon for fuel or even $100. They would rather America fail (and with us goes the world) than to use the resources we have at hand.

Did you know . . . the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years’ is the Williston Basin. More commonly known as the ‘Bakken.’ And it stretches from northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada. We now have access of up to 500 billion barrels of light, sweet crude. With today’s technology. Want to read about it? This from the USGS newsroom . . .

3 to 4.3 Billion Barrels of Technically Recoverable Oil Assessed in North Dakota and Montana’s Bakken Formation—25 Times More Than 1995 Estimate

That press release is dated a year and a half ago. Have you heard the news? Are we working towards production? We don’t even need our Strategic Oil Reserve that has cost the taxpayer billions.

Afghanistan – will we stay or will we go

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

President Obama must decide in the coming weeks whether a greater investment of troops and resources in Afghanistan is worth the political risk.

Nothing about US security, is Soldiers navigate across a creek during a dismounted patrol in the Nerkh Valley, Afghanistan, June 4, 2009. Thursday, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said a new "intermediate" command set for Afghanistan will allow the commander to concentrate on day-to-day tactical events across the country. The pictured Photo Credit: Staff Sgt. Richard Roman.it good for Afghanistan, what about the Taliban, opium, freedom for millions, our all ready made investment in human lives.

Not that any or all of the above may apply but to make a decision of this magnitude based on political risk is sad.

Is this really where we are in America? The truth is this is where we are and have been for a long time. Will we ever again as a country do things because they are right?
